Fitting Instructions:

Side Window Fitting Instructions:

1. Window Preparation

Create a soapy water solution using 1tsp of washing up liquid for every pint of cold water and put into a spray bottle.

With the window rolled up to the top, thoroughly clean inside and outside of the window with soapy solution and wipe dry with the Squeegee (included) and a cloth. Then repeat the process with the window rolled down approximately 5cm.

Clean the rubber ridge on the inside of the car window. If you do not do this, there is a risk that dust will fall from the ridge onto the window during installation.

2. Film Preparation

Determine which side of the film is the clear liner. To do this, apply two pieces of tape to either side of the corner of the film, press together and then separate them to expose which side is the clear liner.

Spray the soapy solution over the outside of the window and temporarily lay the film onto it as smoothly as possible with the clear liner facing you. Spray the solution over the top of the film.

Use the Blade (included) to carefully cut the film to the shape of the window as accurately as possible but be sure to leave 5cm excess film overhanging the bottom of the window.

TIP: Roll the window down 1cm and cut across the top of the window to get an accurate size and shape.

3. Film Application

Peel the liner off the window film using the same tape method used under film preparation.

Use the soapy solution to generously spray all over both the exposed adhesive side of the film and the inside of the window.

Being careful not to let the film touch itself or crease, remove it from the outside of the window and roll the window down 1cm before carefully placing it in position on the inside of the window.

TIP: Where possible, ask someone else to roll the window down while you are holding the film.

Spray the film generously and use the Squeegee to stroke across the top of the window.

Roll the window to the top and slip the bottom of the film underneath the window gasket.

TIP: Use a credit card to help you push the film under the window gasket.

Squeegee the film onto the window, always pushing out from the centre to the edges in order to rid the film of air or water bubbles.

Allow any fingers that may have appeared to dry for 5 minutes and then gently smooth them down with the Squeegee.

Allow up to 15 days for the film to fully cure.

Rear Window Fitting Instructions:

If your rear window is relatively flat and without curves, follow the same instructions as for the Side Window Fitting. If your rear window has curves then you will need to follow the following instructions to cut the film into strips.

Copy the Window Preparation phase from the Side Window Fitting Instructions to clean the rear window.

Determine which side of the film is the clear liner. To do this, apply two pieces of tape to either side of the corner of the film, press together and then separate them to expose which side is the clear liner.

Spray the rear window. Then place the film temporarily on the outside of the window with the liner facing you, spray the film and gently use the Squeegee to flatten the film. The number of points where the film does not lie flat will indicate the how many strips you will need and how wide they will need to be.

Remove the film from the window and cut into horizontal strips that will allow for a 1-2mm overlap over one another. It is likely that you will only need 2 or 3 strips but you may need more if there is a severe curvature.

Then re-spray the outside of the window and lay the strips in place with the 1-2mm overlap. If they still do not lie flat, then cut the strips thinner. Lie all the strips on the outside of the window and spray wet. Then squeegee it smooth and trim the edges of the strips to accurately fit the window.

CAUTION: If you have electrically heated rear windows, take great caution not to cut or break the heating tracks or this could seriously damage the heating system.

One strip at a time, remove the liner and spray generously on both the revealed adhesive side and the inside of the window. Remove each piece from the outside of the window and carefully stick to the inside of the window from the top-down as accurately as possible. Spray the film and squeegee it into place using horizontal strokes from the centre to the edges.
